What was your work background before enrolling in DMI?
I was in the BPO industry for more than 7 years. Before enrolling in DMI, I was a Process Trainer for an account that offered Digital Marketing services to SMBs in the US. Majority of the teams that I handled here in Manila were focused on customer support for digital products (inquiries, website changes and campaign modifications).
What influenced your decision to study and get certified in digital marketing?
My role as a Process Trainer introduced me to the basics of digital marketing. I became so interested in the industry, and I knew that I needed to step up my game in order for me to make the career shift. I wanted to acquire more technical knowledge so I decided to take formal classes. I also thought that getting certified by DMI would help me gain the credibility that I need to get hired for a position in a digital marketing company.
Why did you choose to study with DMI?
When I was searching for companies that offered digital marketing related courses, DMI was one of the top names that came up. The DMI program seemed to be a great fit for me because classes were held on weekends, the class size was just right, lecturers were experts from the Philippines, and it came with an opportunity to get a certification recognized globally. As I was getting ready to enroll, I also decided to do more research and read reviews about DMI. I came across really good feedback about the program, so I decided to go for it.
How has it helped you in your business or work?
It gave me a confidence boost because of the new knowledge that I acquired. I also got to meet a lot of amazing people in the digital marketing industry, so it definitely expanded my network.
Since completing the program, how has your career progressed?
After completing the program and passing the certification test, I finally got the confidence to push through with the career shift. I started applying for digital marketing related jobs and finally got accepted as a Project Manager for a company that offered the best SEO services in the Philippines. One of the lecturers at the DMI classes became my boss! 🙂
What’s your advice for new students?
Have fun and ask a lot of questions. The lecturers are industry experts and they are willing to share their knowledge and experiences.
Even after completing the course, don’t stop learning. DMI has a great platform that connects you to more short courses, webinars, articles, news, and e-books. Take more classes and always read up! Digital marketing is always evolving so you have to stay updated on the latest trends.
How would you describe your learning experience with DMI?
It was a fun and enlightening experience for me, even if I was working in the night shift during my time with DMI. I did not mind having to stay awake for almost 24 hours just to attend the classes because the lectures were great. The lecturers kept the class engaged and were really great at simplifying technical terminologies and concepts.
